Troop 230
|
Welcome to the website of Troop
230! You are visitor number to our page and we are glad you stopped by!! We are an
Alaska group of of scouts that live on the edge of the greatest expanse of open wilderness left in the United States. As part of the
Great Alaska Council, Eklutna District, we are sponsored by the Lions' Club of Eagle River, and
our troop has more than 70 active scouts in 7 patrols. We camp virtually every month, 12 months a year! Baden Powell, the founder of the scouting movement, once said that "scouting is a game with a purpose." In that spirit, we try and have fun at everything we do, and we do a lot. We have hiked trails you have not dreamed of, canoed lakes so clear you would not believe them, and snow skied, snowboarded, and snow camped under the northern lights and ink black skies. We have caught fish in the open sea; boated with whales, sea otters, and sea lions around us; and gazed at scores of bald eagles simultaneously patrolling the skies. We have a strong, active troop, with motivated Scout leaders that are dedicated to carrying forward the principals that form the heart and soul of the scouting movement. For more than 25 years the scouts of Troop 230 have been living the Alaskan adventure every month of every year. Enjoy our website.
