In May of 2006 nearly forty scouts from Troop 230, along with a few scouts from T229 and T219 who are on the Council's Philmont team, gathered together as one group and headed out into the Alaskan wilderness. We put on their backpacks and headed off into the heart of the Kenai, and we had a blast! We traveled deep into the Alaska wilderness, crossing several snow fields, and we explored some beautiful valleys. We even went swimming. It was a hard hike, and we backpacked 14 miles on Saturday, 24 miles total over the three days. If you missed this trip, you missed a great time!
The secret to any scouting event, are the dedicated adult leaders that make it possible. A special thanks to these parents, who dedicated their weekend to scouting and to the boys within the troop.
