Summer Camp: Camp Gorsuch,

What is Summer Camp? Well, it's a camp of
opportunity; a camp of fun, and a place that can be even magical at
times. At summer camp we cement friendships, and really get to KNOW the guys in
our troop and our patrol. There is also a chance to practice the very
principals that are the core to the scouting movement. Duty to God
and Country; Duty to Others; and Duty to Self. We
honor our nation, remember our God, help our fellow scouts in the way we live
and the way we play, and we build our bodies, mentally, physically, and morally,
striving to Do Your Best in all that we take on. Yes, summer camp is all of these things,
and more!
We fired shotguns and .22 rifles, and shot arrows like Robin
Hood. We swam, fished, sailed, and canoed, and we made things
too! On top of all of that, we advanced up the scouting trail,
working through the multitude of requirements that moved each of us a step
closer to being an Eagle Scout. Basketry, Archery, Lifesaving, Canoeing,
Mammal Study, Environmental Science, Swimming, Leatherwork, Fingerprinting, Rock
Climbing, and Woodcarving were just a few of the merit badges we worked
on. And, above all else, we worked together, building Troop spirit
and having FUN!
