Water "Funday" Permission Slip On July 6-7 2007, Troop 230 will be having an adventure
"Funday event"
consisting of water activities on, in, and around Finger Lake. The intent of
this "Funday weekend" is to have a good time, and the scouts that attend will
have the opportunity to waterki, canoe, motorboat, swim, and fish. Additionally,
there will be a Motorboating Merit Badge Class, and so there will be an
opportunity to complete most portions of that merit badge during the "Funday."
Obviously, it is imperative that every scout who attends be classified as a
"SWIMMER." We will not be doing swim instruction and scouts that are
not swimmers have no business working on merit badges that take place in and
around deep water that is neither crystal clear nor warm. Further, while it is
the intent of the leadership of this troop to minimize risks wherever possible
and personal flotation devices will be mandatory for all boating related
activities, nevertheless there is an increased risk that must be recognized when
scouts are spending a day involved in a multitude of activities My son, _________________________, is a "Swimmer" and can pass the BSA Swimmers Test. This test requires a scout to:
